Throughout October, schools are encouraged to host events and activities that build awareness around college and career options, support students in the postsecondary planning process, and create a strong postsecondary going culture for all grade levels.
To meet the Postsecondary Access Champions milestone, schools should participate in College Knowledge Month by completing the following:
- Provide time, space, and support for seniors to complete their college applications.
- Host at least one activity or event to support students in planning their postsecondary goals.
- Complete the Minnesota Goes to College site coordinator survey (after the events).
What is College Knowledge Month?
College Knowledge Month is a shared opportunity for all Minnesota schools to support students as they explore and prepare for life after high school, including a wide range of high-quality postsecondary options such as trade and professional certificates, career and technical programs, two and four-year degrees, apprenticeships, and military service.
With thoughtful planning and creativity, schools can use this time to build a strong postsecondary-going culture and help students take meaningful steps toward their futures. The active participation of students, staff, faculty, and families reinforces a shared commitment to postsecondary readiness across the entire school community.
